trojan cow

Have you ever needed to create a metaphorical Trojan Cow, 100% in CGI? Well, i have. The metaphor described how easy it was to smuggle a disease into a herd without it being noticed. Using the “Trojan Horse” as a base, our concept artists set out designing the equivalent Trojan Cow. Working on the way the slats of wood defined the anatomy and structure of the cow. We looked closely into materials to break up the mass of wood, from straw at the base and ropes to give an authentic hand crafted feel. The flow of the wooden slats was integral to defining the huge scale of the cow in the field.

Due to the time of year, we couldn’t do a photography shoot for this so we had to build all the cows, both the normal and the Trojan kind in full CGI. We had to pay particular attention to the anatomy of the real cows as the drugs was designed to combat a specific type of illness in a specific breed. We utilized our high resolution stock library to produce the photographic back-plate and then integrate all the CGI into the imagery. Check out the step-by-step below to see how it all came together!
